Goal

Mission statement

To enhance the lives of all animals in need and enrich their lives.

Vision

To create a holistic society where all animals are treated humanely.

Programs

    1. Dog welfare and population management program;
      We support and enhance the sheltering of homeless dogs, puppies and cats at household and community levels, this has led to a great reduction in the killing of homeless dogs and cats on roads and through food poisonings. Animal population management through Spaying and Neutering which is very important to prevent countless unwanted puppies from being thrown away.
      Rabies vaccination, We organize static health camps and vaccinate dogs and cats against rabies to save the lives of dogs and prevent infection to the population. Unvaccinated animals roaming in towns are suspected of spreading rabies, we have seen victim dogs beaten severely or killed after reports of dog bites. This has caused chaos and we need to do something to protect the animals and promote healthy communities, free of rabies and other related diseases.
    2. School children Education programs;
      We work with school children as future animal owners and teach them to be responsible,respectful and kind to animals to reduce dog bites and make them aware of rabies and understand the loving friend they live alongside. We also involve other community groups to increase responsible dog ownership, to prevent abandonment of puppies and mass poisoning of homeless dogs. Through outreach programs We offer advisory services to farmers and households, answer community queries concerning their animals and promote welfare. We sensitize the communities on animal birth control methods to reduce over proliferation.
    3. Hope nourish relief, a new program, providing nutrition and food related supplies to poor families to support them during the pandemic. It was introduced to prevent poor families from dumping unwanted puppies and abandoning breastfeeding mothers,due to economic conditions during covid19. Through this program we provide nutrients, minor treatments to low income families who can’t afford Vet costs (benevolent assistance), This nourishment supplement to poor families has saved /reduced what would be abandoned animals, to stay in homes.

      A healthy animal equals less disease spread and it’s linked to healthy communities and environment.

  1.

Target group

Communities in Nansana Municipality Wakiso district with a total of 236 parishes and home to over 3 million people. With a GDP per capita of $642.80 (World Bank, 2018), Uganda today is one of the poorest countries in the world. (World Bank, Economic Overview of Uganda.)

Animal Hope Uganda works in a region where animals have no rights, and people have not been informed about animal welfare/health, management care, and the benefits, sighting the dangers of neglecting animals. Because animals and people live in close proximity, diseases such as rabies and conditions such as parasite infestation affect both animals and people. The health and well-being of people is directly linked.
Our goals are to Sensitize, Educate, rescue, protect and improve the lives of animals in Uganda. In order to achieve these goals, A.H.U puts into consideration a number of activities and guiding principles as seen here-under;

We support and enhance the sheltering of homeless dogs and cats at household and community levels, this has led to a great reduction in the killing of homeless dogs and cats on roads and through food poisonings.

We have established community networks to continuously supply information and awareness to the population regarding pet’s purposes and management.

We sensitize the communities on animal birth control methods to reduce over proliferation. This is done at both household, community, and district levels through our public sensitization network.
